CNU has a strong, mission-directed identity. The Office of Communications and Public Relations gives members of the CNU family the information and resources they need to tailor every communications piece to the standards that support our mission and identity.

Official Type Fonts
• for the words Christopher and Newport, please use these typefaces:
Mona Lisa
• for University, please use these typefaces:
Bembo or Times New Roman in capital letters.
CNU Official Colors
For print materials, please use CNU's official colors, PMS 287-Blue and PMS 877-Silver.
For web sites, CNU's official colors are:
#003366 (Blue)
and
#D8D8D8 (Silver).
Text Standards
Spell out "Christopher Newport University" in its complete form the first time it is used in each separate document. After the first use on a page or document of the long form, subsequent references may simply use "CNU."
CNU Official Mascot and Team Names
• the official mascot of CNU is Captain Chris
• the offical team name of CNU men's and coed sports teams is "Captains"
• CNU's women's athletics teams may be referred to as either "Captains" or "Lady Captains"
