(NEWPORT
NEWS, VA) – CNU’s guest lecturer, R. Foster Winans, ex-Wall
Street Journal reporter and author of 14 books, including the critically
acclaimed “Trading Secrets,” is a notorious figure within
the stock market realm. Winans, who was sent to prison in 1988 for mail,
wire and securities fraud, has an intriguing story to tell. And he plans
on doing just that on May 7, at CNU’s 7th Annual Accounting Banquet.
Sponsored by Goodman & Company LL.P., the event will be held within
the Kiln Creek Golf & Country Club and is open to local accountants,
students, and accounting alumni. The banquet kicks off at 6 p.m. with
a cost of $25 per person.
A master in discussing the blurred lines in journalism ethics, Winans
has bounced back from his term in prison and is currently working within
a writing organization he founded in his hometown of Bucks County, PA.
Winans, who once said the Charlie Sheen character in the capricious
film “Wall Street” was molded after him, will comment on
the importance of business and ethics in contemporary American society.
Winans recently appeared on CNN to talk about the Martha Stewart case,
and many major national TV programs including Larry King and Good Morning
America.
