Named CNU School of Business Entrepreneur-In-Residence

Newport University (CNU) has named Dollar Tree Stores founder, Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer Macon Brock, Jr., as the School of Business
Entrepreneur-In-Residence. Brock will speak to students, faculty, staff,
business leaders and the general public in Gaines Theatre on October
21, at 4 p.m. A reception will follow the presentation.
“The CNU School of Business is honored by this opportunity to
engage students with one of America's leading entrepreneurs and excited
to be able to involve the greater business community,” said Dr.
Donna Mottilla, Dean of the School of Business.
During a daylong residency including five presentations, Brock will
share his story of business leadership and entrepreneurial success with
Dollar Tree, one of the fastest growing retail chains in the country.
Previously, Brock served as President of K&K Toys, Inc., which he
co-founded. This 136-unit toy store chain was sold in 1991.
A Norfolk native, Brock earned his B.A. degree from Randolph-Macon College
in 1964, served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, and is a Vietnam
veteran. He was a special agent for U.S. Naval Intelligence before entering
the retail business.
Brock is Chairman of Randolph-Macon College, past Chairman and Director
of the Virginia Beach Foundation, Director of Greater Norfolk Corporation,
Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance, Virginia Business Council
and is past President and a trustee of the Virginia Beach Center for
Contemporary Art.
The 4 p.m. seminar is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
