Christopher Newport University (CNU) is pleased to announce two
significant awards in the “American School & University: Architectural
Portfolio 2003, the Sourcebook for Award-Winning and Outstanding Education
Design.” CNU’s Comprehensive Master Plan received an Outstanding
Projects citation in the Campus Master Plans segment of the competition
and York River Hall was cited for Outstanding Buildings in the post-secondary
category.
Jurors from across the nation evaluated more than 200 school and university
design projects. The jury looked for projects that exemplified characteristics
including: supports learning; architecturally exemplary; adaptability/flexibility;
Integrated, skillful use of the site; sustainability; ability to serve
as a community resource; regulatory compliance; sensitive attention
to security; and cost effective.
