Newport University (CNU) announced the naming of the Ferguson Center
for the Arts – a world-class, I.M. Pei designed performing arts
center located in Newport News, Virginia.
Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. made a $1.3 million gift to the center,
bringing their total commitment to $2.6 million. Ferguson supplies a
vast array of plumbing and builder products, industrial pipe, valves
and fittings, heating and cooling equipment, waterworks products, and
tool and safety products.
“We are very grateful to Ferguson Enterprises and Ferguson’s
many associates for their generous financial support and leadership
through the years,” said CNU President and former U.S. Senator
Paul S. Trible.
To date, CNU has raised $53.5 million in pledges and contributions
toward a goal of $53.9 million. The first phase of the Ferguson Center
for the Arts will be completed in spring 2004 and will include a 500-seat
theater and music hall, 200-seat experimental theater and teaching and
learning spaces that will enhance the lives of CNU students, faculty
and staff. The second phase consists of the 1700-seat concert hall and
all the supporting spaces for that venue. The concert hall will be completed
in the spring of 2005.
