(NEWPORT
NEWS) — The Office of Student Life at Christopher Newport University presents
The Second City performance of "Me the People" at 9 p.m.
on September 11 in the Ferguson Center for the Arts at Christopher
Newport University.
In anticipation of the upcoming national election, The Second City
has created a revue that takes a (usually) fair and (sometimes) balanced
look at our nation's government, politics and future. "Me the
People" examines the foibles of the Left and Right with an eye
for the strange, the hypocritical and the ridiculous. The revue is
high-energy and filled with up-to-the-minute satire that changes with
each day's news.
The Second City is the risk-taking comedy cabaret that opened in Chicago
in 1959. Second City's potent impact on theater, film and TV is revealed
in its lengthy alumni list, which includes the likes of John Belushi,
Gilda Radner, Betty Thomas, John Candy, Dan Aykroyd, and Eugene Levy.
