NEWS) — Dr. Kelly O. Sullivan, director, University Relations and Fellowship
Programs at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), will present
research and fellowship opportunities to students and faculty at Christopher
Newport University on Wednesday, October 13 in the Alumni Room of the
Student Center. A reception will be held at 6 p.m. and the presentation
will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Sullivan will focus her presentation on the research and fellowship
opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty
from a variety of scientific disciplines. Dr. Sullivan is responsible
for developing and maintaining collaborations and partnerships with
colleges and universities both regionally and nationally.
PNNL is one of nine U.S. Department of Energy multiprogram national
laboratories that solve complex problems in energy, national security,
the environment and life sciences by advancing the understanding of
physics, chemistry, biology and computation. PNNL employs 3,800, has
a $600 million annual budget, and has been managed by Ohio-based Battelle
since the lab's inception in 1965.
Researchers at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory are advancing
the frontiers of scientific knowledge and rapidly translating their

Sigma Xi is the international honor society of science and engineering
and has approximately 70,000 members who were elected to membership
based on their research potential or achievements. More than 500 Sigma
Xi chapters in North America and around the world provide a supportive

research centers and government laboratories. Nearly 200 members have
won the Nobel Prize.
