Hosts 8th Annual Gardening Symposium

Christopher Newport University will host the Annual Gardening Symposium
on Saturday, April 16, 2005, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Symposium
is presented by the LifeLong Learning Society, Grounds Department,
and Horticulture Programs of CNU, and the Virginia Cooperative Extension
Service.
This year's theme is "Fishing for Seasonal Ideas When Your Landscape
is on the Line." Participants choose two of six workshops which include "Shower
Each Season with a Rainbow of Color," "Butterfly Gardens - Natural
Beauty," and "Landscape Health - Identify the Illness and Cure the
Problem."
Keynote speaker Sandy McDougle is a perennial plant specialist who
founded her own perennial plant nursery in 1979. She travels
internationally to collect new plant material and lectures extensively
in the mid-Atlantic region.
Registration for the symposium is $20, and the deadline is April 8.
