A group of CNU alumni raised more than $20,000 for AIDS by organizing and performing in a charity event in New York City, as well as participating in the 2006 AIDS Walk, held May 21 in Central Park. Based on the amount of money raised, the CNU team, called Team Supersnack, is ranked second among "friends and family" teams and is in 23rd place overall out of 2,100 teams participating. |
ABC News White House Correspondent Ann Compton delivered the 2006 Spring Commencement address to CNU's 582 graduates.

Douglas Duncan, a 1972 graduate of Christopher Newport College, returned to his alma mater – now a growing university – as an Executive-in-Residence at the Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business and as a member of the University’s Board of Visitors.

CNU’s residential program won numerous awards at the annual Virginia Association of College and University Residence Hall conference in February at Radford University. CNU's resident assistants and residential leaders dominated the state in innovative social and educational programming. |
CNU made Rappahannock Community College its first partner in a guaranteed-admission agreement on Feb. 13. A special feature of the agreement is CNU’s guarantee that 15 spots in its junior class will be reserved each year for RCC graduates who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for two-year colleges. |
