(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Christopher Newport University student Marisa Isaac has co-authored a chapter of a published book, just before her graduation.

Issac’s work appears in a book edited by Alea Mittel, "Focus on Educational Psychology," published in 2006 by Nova Science Publishers. Isaac contributed the chapter “Cognitive Flexibility in Reading” in collaboration with Dr. Kelly Cartwright, her mentor and a faculty member in the Psychology Department at CNU, and another psychology major.

The work on the chapter was completed during Isaac’s senior year at CNU. After taking Cartwright’s graduate class in reading, Isaac also co-authored another chapter on student attitudes toward reading, which will be published soon.

Isaac graduates May 13 with a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Postgraduate Professional Teaching License from the state of Virginia. She plans to move with her fiance to Boone, N.C., where she she plans to teach elementary school and continue her studies in reading.
