CNU students vie for accounting honor

(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — A team of students from Christopher Newport University will compete for cash prizes in the Goodman Accounting Challenge, an upcoming accounting competition, against teams from the leading universities in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

The Goodman Accounting Challenge, judged by leading certified public accountants, is designed to reward outstanding accounting students and identify those likely to contribute significantly to the profession after graduation and achievement of professional certifications.

The competition consists of a pre-qualifying challenge at CNU at the end of October and the final challenge Nov. 10-12 in Norfolk.

Lodging, meals and sponsored social events are provided by Goodman and Company, a prestigious, regional public accounting firm with offices in Virginia and Maryland. In addition to competing for prizes, participants will have opportunities for networking and exposure to varied accounting and auditing topics.
