(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — The Christopher Newport University Wind Ensemble will perform in Germany in December, making it the first ensemble from Newport News to perform at Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald, Germany.
The CNU ensemble will perform on Dec. 15 at Germany’s second-oldest university. Members of the Greifswald and university communities will host the CNU students and faculty, providing them with first-hand knowledge and experience in German university life and culture.
In turn, the citizens of Greifswald will experience American education and hear the product of music education in American schools. The Wind Ensemble has been invited also to perform on Dec. 13 in the new concert hall of the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Stuttgart, sharing a concert with the City of Stuttgart’s Wind Orchestra. The trip includes a tour of the National Museum of German Art and Culture Historical Music Instruments Collection in Nuremberg and a visit to the grave of J.S. Bach in St. Thomas Church in Leipzig.
The CNU Wind Ensemble has received donations from the Sister Cities of Newport News Greifswald Committee and CNU Friends of Music. All donations are welcome and may be made through CNU Friends of Music, online at http://music.cnu.edu/FriendsofMusic.htm
