CNU's Silver Storm dance team wins competition

(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Silver Storm, Christopher Newport University’s dance team, was named Most Collegiate and Most Improved at the Universal Dance Association dance camp held July 28-30 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

The team also won a first place for its home routine and a Superior trophy for gold ribbons that individual team members won on dances that were taught at camp.

The CNU team competed against dance teams from 15 other colleges that included Division I and Division III schools.

  • Carol Thompson (Junior history major)

The team’s coach is Mina Estrada, assistant professor in CNU’s Department of Theater and Dance, who previously coached the dance teams at Tulane University and Temple University.
