Eric Daniels
Dr. Eric Daniels will lecture on the moral foundations of capitalism on Nov. 6 at Christopher Newport University.

(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Dr. Eric Daniels, Visiting Scholar at Clemson University’s Institute for the Study of Capitalism, will present the inaugural lecture of the BB&T Colloquium Series on Capitalism at Christopher Newport University.

The lecture on the moral foundations of capitalism is 3-4:30 p.m., Nov. 6, in the David Student Union Ballroom, which is a change from the original location for the speech. It is free and open to the public.

More about Dr. Eric Daniels

Dr. Eric Daniels is a visiting scholar at Clemson University’s Institute for the Study of Capitalism. He previously served as a postdoctoral fellow and visiting assistant professor at Duke University's Program on Values and Ethics in the Marketplace.

In addition, Daniels has taught at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned his doctorate in American history. He has lectured internationally on the history of American ethics, American business and entrepreneurship, and the American Enlightenment. Daniels’ publications include a chapter in “The Abolition of Antitrust” and five entries in the “Oxford Companion to United States History.”

 He is currently working on a book on ideas of rights in American history.
