CNU Bookstore to host book-signings
News Release - Nov. 2, 2006 Media contact: Doris Gwaltney of Smithfield is the author of "Homefront," a middle grade novel published in 2006. Her other books include "Shakespeare's Sister," "George Purdie," "Merchant of Smithfield" and "Duncan Browdie, Gent." She has published short fiction and poetry in Greensboro Review, Poet's Domain, The Beacon, The William and Mary Review, Virginia Adversaria, Cube and In Good Company. She has given speeches and presented workshops at a number of colleges and The Virginia Festival of the Book. She teaches a writing class for the LifeLong Learning Society at CNU. Barbara Drucker Smith published "Prose from the Old Century to the New," a collection of letters, short essays and vignettes, in 2005; "A Poetic Journey," travels through life in poetic sections, in 2006; and "Darling Loraine: The Story of A. Louis Drucker, a Grateful Jewish Immigrant," a compilation of anecdotal history, letters from abroad in 1933 and 1937 warning of impending Holocaust, poetry, photographs and letters between authors. Smith is a veteran anthologized poet, fiction and nonfiction writer, a pianist, choral singer, actress and world traveler. In addition, she is a certified hypnotherapist and a professionally certified teacher of English, journalism, speech and remedial reading.
