(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Writers are invited to enter their unpublished manuscripts in Christopher Newport University’s Writing Contest held in conjunction with the 26th Annual Writers’ Conference, which is March 30-31, 2007, at the Ferguson Center for the Arts. The deadline for entering the contest is Jan. 31, 2007.
Keynote speaker for the conference is international best-selling author David L. Robbins, author of “The Assassins Gallery,” “Liberation Road,” “Last Citadel,” “Scorched Earth,” “The End of War,” “War of the Rats” and “Souls to Keep.”
Contestants may enter one work in each of the four categories: poetry, fiction, juvenile fiction and nonfiction. First-place winners in the writing contest will receive $100 and an engraved silver bowl; second-place winners will receive $50; third-place winners will receive $30. Winning entries will be published in the 26th anniversary edition of the “Winning Entries Booklet.”
Registration fees for the conference and writing contest are $75 (general public), $55 (senior citizens), $30 (full-time students), $15 (CNU faculty/staff for conference only, ineligible for writing contest), CNU students: no charge for conference, $10 Writing Contest fee, $5 lunch.
