(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Retirees can choose from 43 courses covering topics from Russian literature, poetry and opera to the Bush administration, the nuclear club, Berlin and much more in the spring session of Christopher Newport University's LifeLong Learning Society.  Also offered are trips to Washington, D.C, the Philadelphia Flower Show and a Canadian cruise as well as 10 Monday lectures, three conferences and special interest groups that bring together all members.

The spring 2007 session begins on Jan. 29 with the first of five lectures by Eastern Virginia Medical School focusing on health issues.

Intellectual curiosity is the only admission requirement for the Lifelong Learning Society. There are no exams or grades in the courses, although some courses include assigned readings and the possible purchase of a text.

LifeLong Learning Society logoManaged by and for its members, the LifeLong Learning Society is a program of CNU's Office of University Advancement and is an affiliate of the Elderhostel Institute Network. The society participates in joint learning efforts with other educational and research institutions, retirement groups, industries and museums. It co-sponsors the annual Writers', Gardening and Forum on Aging conferences.
