(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Christopher Newport University will mark World AIDS Day on Dec. 1 with a proclamation by Newport News Mayor Joe Frank.

The World AIDS Day event will be noon to 3 p.m. in the David Student Union Ballroom. It will be hosted by Radio Host Herman Hurston of 95.7 R&B and is free and open to the public. In addition to the proclamation, the event includes performances, testimonials, refreshments and giveways as well as education awareness and a health fair.

The event is sponsored by CNU’s Iota Theta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Zeta Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; Hampton/NN Community Services Board; ACCESS; Self Protection Awareness; Peninsula Health District; and the Life AIDS Committee.
