(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — Christopher Newport University has launched a new Web site that provides information about the University’s delays, closing and return to normal schedules.

The Web site, cnualert.info, provides emergency alerts, gives unscheduled office closings and lists other resources for emergency information. In January, users can register their cell phones to receive text message alerts.

“We're excited to have this new vehicle to let parents, faculty, staff and community members know about the status of CNU, especially when inclement weather threatens to interrupt classes,” said Carolyn Cuthrell, director of the Office of Communications and Public Relations at CNU.

In addition, cnualert.info provides emergency prevention and preparedness information, general safety information and links to expert Web sites, such as the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of State. Other features will be added to the Web site as needed in the future, Cuthrell said.

For more information about cnualert.info, please contact Heidi Morris, Web site production assistant, at heidi.morris@cnu.edu.
