Madison Hall Information

In the violent thunderstorm on Friday, August 4, a massive bolt of lightning hit the roof of Madison Hall at about 4:50 p.m. The lightning bolt hit so hard it shook houses a block away and ignited a fire. Newport News firefighters and campus police went door to door to ensure that all students had left the building. (see all news releases)

Housing has been arranged for all displaced students. Unfortunately, some suites and personal property have been hard hit. An emergency fund has been established to help replace items lost in the fire.

The University will not have any estimate of damage to the building until the building can be inspected.

We want to thank students and parents for their patience and cooperation during this time.

We also thank the firefighters, police officers, volunteers and staff who have worked tirelessly since the fire to assist students and recover property.

Madison Hall residents are asked to check their CNU email regularly for updates and further information. You can also use the links at the top of this page to find answers to many of the questions that have been asked by students and parents as a consequence of the fire at Madison Hall.
