Twenty-five of the top students chosen to participate in CNU's prestigious President's Leadership Program will become Canon Leadership Scholars starting with our next freshmen class. They will receive a $5,000 merit scholarship each year for a total of $20,000.

Mariners' Museum's nationally renowned Library moving to CNU
“CNU and The Mariners' Museum will soon possess a library that is civic in its proportions, elegant in its architecture, 21st Century in its technology and holds in combination a collection of more than 300,000 volumes, including a world-class collection of rare books, manuscripts, maps and photographs that chronicles six centuries of history,” said CNU President Paul S. Trible.

Winning teamFirst place winners again
For the fourth consecutive year, a Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business student team won the Gold award (first place) in the 2007 Collegiate MAXI (Marketing Award for Excellence and Innovation) Competition sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association of Washington Educational Foundation.

Two Fulbright grant recipients
Dr. Brian M. Puaca, assistant professor of history, was awarded a Fulbright Scholar Grant to participate in the Fulbright German Studies Seminar in Brussels and Berlin this summer. Dr. Stavroula Kostaki Gailey, professor of mathematics, was awarded a Fulbright Grant to lecture and conduct research at three universities in Greece for the Spring 2008 semester.

Dr. Mark W. PadillaA new provost for CNU
Dr. Mark W. Padilla will replace Dr. Richard Summerville, who is retiring in June after a distinguished 27-year career at CNU. Of the selection, President Trible said, "He has an outstanding record of success at pre-eminent liberal arts and sciences institutions and is deeply committed to liberal learning, shared governance, and student success."

The Yoder BarnOn March 15, 2007, the Yoder family and the Yoder Preservation Trust, Inc., presented the Yoder Barn Theatre to CNU. The programming that the Yoders provided the community over the years will be continued and expanded using the expertise of the professional staff from the Ferguson Center for the Arts.

Dr. Tracey Schwarze Dr. Tracey Schwarze, associate professor of English, was recognized with the Commonwealth’s highest honor for faculty at Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities when she was named one of 12 recipients of the 2007 Outstanding Faculty Awards from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
