(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — The Christopher Newport University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Club received a $500.00 donation from HSBC in recognition of their work to promote financial literacy. Mr. Paul Rubino of HSBC’s Consumer Lending Division presented the gift to SIFE Student President Jessica Medlen, a senior finance major in the Luter School of Business, on February 28, 2007.
SIFE students are working to deliver financial literacy to underprivileged youth through educational programs developed by club members. They will be attending a SIFE competition in Charlotte, NC in March 2007 and expect to receive valuable feedback from other corporate sponsors and judges for their 2007 projects.
HSBC is a corporate sponsor of SIFE and supports the CNU SIFE chapter in achieving its 2007 goals of delivering financial literacy to underprivileged youth. HSBC is a lending industry giant and will be a future collaborator with SIFE in the landmark design of economic principles, financial responsibility, credit awareness, and fiscal planning tools for young adults. |
