(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) — "I have shared our shock and anguish with President Charles Steger of Virginia Tech and have offered to share the full resources of CNU to support our friends and colleagues at Virginia Tech in this very difficult time. Please remember the students and faculty and staff of Virginia Tech in your thoughts and prayers.

"CNU has always been a very safe campus and we work hard to ensure the safety and security of our students and all the members of the University community. Nevertheless, in this crazy and chaotic world, tragedy can strike anywhere and anytime.

"Security on our own campus is being enhanced and it is important that all of us be more vigilant in ensuring the security of all members of our University community."
