CNU Alum Presents Research Paper at International Academy Meeting

(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) - Melissa Medlen, a 2007 graduate of Christopher Newport University, B.S. Mathematics, Melissa Medlenpresented her research paper, “The Truth About Numbers: A Study of the Misuse of Statistics in Business,” at the international meeting of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business in Indianapolis on August 14. Her paper was selected for presentation by a panel of reviewers consisting of business law professors from across the country.

Ms. Medlen, who will be entering the Ph.D. program in Mathematics at Old Dominion University this fall, began her research as party of an assignment for an Honors class in Business Ethics and Regulation at CNU. She received a cash award of  $250 which was provided by Irwin-McGraw Hill Publishing Company. Ms. Medlen was sponsored by Dr. Ronnie Cohen, Professor of Accounting, Economics and Finance at Christopher Newport University.
