(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) - The Center for Economic Education at Christopher Newport University is pleased to announce that Ms. Louise Edwards-Pair has been chosen as its Outstanding Economic Educator of the Year. Ms. Edwards-Pair is a veteran teacher who currently teaches Sociology at Heritage High School in Newport News , Virginia.

“Louise has been selected for this honor due to her unflagging enthusiasm and dedication to teaching,” said Ms.Gemma Kotula, Director of the Center for Economic Education. “By embracing economic concepts and vocabulary, and setting an example with her grasp of both, Louise has been an inspiration to her fellow teachers.” Ms. Edwards-Pair's major strength, says her Principal Mr. Michael L. Nichols, is her “uncanny ability to bring the subjects she teaches to life for any student.”

She will be presented with a $100 honorarium by the Virginia Council on Economic Education (VCEE) at the Richmond Federal Reserve Bank in November 2007. She will then vie for a grand prize of $1,000 among the applicants from the eleven Centers for Economic Education in the state.
