(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) - – Five Christopher Newport University BSBA Economic Majors in the Joseph W. Luter III School of Business have won first place in the College Fed Challenge, Richmond Office Competition. The College Fed Challenge is sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and is an academic competition designed to encourage better understanding of the nation’s central bank, the forces influencing economic conditions in the United States and abroad, and the ways the economy affects individuals’ lives. Participating student teams gave 20-minute presentations on monetary policy, followed by ten minutes of questions and answers. The final four teams underwent a further round of competition involving intense, on-the-spot questioning about a hypothetical economic event posed by the judges. They were judged on content, teamwork, responses to questions, presentation and style.
