"I am especially proud of our students here at CNU and their dedicated commitment to becoming exemplary music educators,” said Dr. Keith Koster, CNU Director of Music Education Studies, and advisor to CNU’s Collegiate Chapter of the VMEA. "Here at CNU, we're preparing tomorrow's leaders in music education today. Holding a state-level elected position, I believe, represents the quality of the preparation that our students are getting here at CNU. This is wonderful news for our students, our music education studies program, and our institution, but more importantly for Virginia's collegiate music education majors." As president, Heather will lead the collegiate section of the annual VMEA conference slated next November at the Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia. In addition to conference planning, both state officers will complete a variety of collegiate business activities and contacts with the Commonwealth's approximately 600 music education majors throughout Virginia in some 24 institutions. The Collegiate Chapter of the Virginia Music Educators Association is part of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC). MENC is the professional organization for America's music educators with 100,000 members. Heather and Jessica will represent Virginia and CNU’s local CCVMEA chapter at the national biennial meeting of MENC slated for April 2008 in Milwaukee.
