(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) - The Joseph W. Luter III College of Business and Leadership is pleased to announce the conferring of its prestigious Brout Professorship upon Associate Professor of Finance, Dr. Niazur Rahim.  The Brout Professor is the honorary title of an endowed professorship selected by competition; the professor will write and publish a series of articles to be known as the “Brout Papers.”

“I am very pleased to have been awarded this esteemed Professorship, said Dr. Rahim.  “In my teaching philosophy, I have always sought to emphasize the fundamentals so that my students can be self learners.  I will continue to highlight these values in the Brout Professorship.”

Dr. Rahim, a tenured associate professor of Finance, started his teaching career at Hampton University in 1985 and has been teaching finance at CNU since 1998.  His Brout Professorship seminar will examine causes and effects of cross-border mergers and acquisition and how national and regional factors influence them. The title of Dr. Rahim's winning Brout Professorship seminar is “Foreign Direct Investment.”
