CNU Welcomes Popular Rock Band "Boys Like Girls"

(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) - The Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Office of Student Activities at Christopher Newport University have announced their annual spring concert. This year the popular rock band “Boys Like Girls” will be performing at CNU’s Freeman Center on April 4, 2008. With recent top 10 hits like “The Great Escape” and the albums lead single “Hero/Heroine”, this year’s show will prove to be a great success.
“Boys Like Girls” is a four-member American pop rock band from Boston, Massachusettes. With band members including Martin Johnson, Paul DiGiovanni, Bryan Donahue, and John Keefe, this young and energetic group says their musical influences come from bands like Jimmy Eat World, Relient K, and Dashboard Confessional. Their debut album Boys Like Girls sold copies at an average rate of 10,000 copies per week in 2007. The CD spent over 21 weeks on Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums in mid 2007 and has reached #1 on other popular music charts such as the Billboard Heatseekers Top New Artist Chart.
On Friday April 4, the doors at the Freeman Center will open to the public at 6:00 p.m. with the show starting at 7:00 p.m. with an opening band yet to be determined. Tickets can be purchased for $10.00 through Ticketmaster.
CNU’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Office of Student Activities play a large role in the events that come to CNU each year. CAB is a student-run, student-driven campus organization that helps strengthen the campus-wide social and educational calendar. The Office of Student Activities complements the academic program of studies and enhances the overall university experience of student through development of, exposure to, and involvement in social, cultural, intellectual, recreational leadership and volunteer programs.
