V.P. and General Manager of DuPont to Speak at CNU

“We are very excited to have Mr. Powell speaking on the relationship of leadership to business,” said Dr. Stephanie Bardwell, Acting Dean of the Joseph W. Luter III College of Business and Leadership. “This is a remarkable opportunity for our students to meet with a distinguished senior executive of a well-respected global enterprise. We are pleased Mr. Powell will share his perspective as our 2008 Executive Leader in Residence.” Mr. Powell began his career in DuPont in 1982 in Aiken, South Carolina. Over the next several years he held various assignments in Engineering, Technology, Production and Product Line Management in South Carolina, California, Texas, and Delaware. In 1995, Mr. Powell relocated to Singapore as Asia-Pacific regional business and operations manager for DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers. Following three years in Asia, Mr. Powell returned to Wilmington, Del., and was named global business manager for the DuPont Ethylene Copolymers Business.
In 1999, he became managing director of the DuPont Intellectual Assets Business, a newly formed business focused on management and licensing of the DuPont portfolio of technologies. In 2000, he was named a Global Business Director for DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers. He was named President of DuPont in Greater China in January 2004 and relocated to Shanghai, China. He assumed the added responsibility of President of DuPont China Holding Co. Ltd. in September 2004. Mr. Powell returned to the United States in July 2006 and was named Vice President and General Manager of DuPont Building Innovations. He was named to his current position in June 2007, based in Richmond.
