BB&T Colloquium Series on Capitalism to Present Lecture at CNU
(Newport News) - The BB&T Colloquium Series on Capitalism at Christopher Newport University will present a lecture from Dr. Bryan Caplan, “The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies,” on Monday, October 6, at 3 p.m. in the David Student Union ballroom. The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow. Dr. Caplan, associate professor of economics at George Mason University, earned his B.A. in economics from UC-Berkeley and his Ph.D. in economics from Princeton. His talk will be based upon his book The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies , that was named a “Best Book of 2007” by The Financial Times . His talk will be most timely in light of the upcoming presidential election. Dr. Caplan's writings have also been published in the Economics Journal , the Journal of Law & Economics , Social Science Quarterly , the Journal of Public Economics, and Public Choice among others.
