Dr. Ralph Waller, University of Oxford Speaks at CNU
(Newport News) - Dr. Ralph Waller Principal of Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford, a renowned scholar, author and lecturer will be speaking on Tuesday, September 30 at 3:30 p.m. in the Trible Dr. Waller, a minister of the Methodist Church, is known for his incredible contributions to both academic and religious communities. He is one of the foremost authorities on the Wesleys and the nineteenth century non-conformists and will be discussing his acclaimed work regarding the founder of the Methodist Church, John Wesley: A Personal Portrait. The book profiles the life of John Wesley, one of the most significant figures in Modern British history. Focusing on the main events and issues of Wesley’s life, the book succeeds in dealing with the controversial issues while also highlighting the great contributions he made to eighteenth century life. Dr. Waller will also be speaking Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Concert Hall to discuss leadership, the life of John Wesley and the remarkable enterprise he leads at Oxford. “The Trible Library Author Series” brings acclaimed writers from around the world to Christopher Newport University for an intellectual discussion of their work with students, faculty and friends of the University.
