(Newport News) - Christopher Newport University will sponsor educational programs and seminars October 6 - 14 to raise awareness about the horrors of genocide and the abuse of human rights worldwide. This is made possible through the CNU Genocide Studies Endowment, a privately funded entity administered within CNU's Department of History in partnership with the National Genocide Education Project, a 501 (c)(3) organization. A Genocide Studies Endowment Committee manages the endowment's work.

The CNU Genocide Studies Endowment seeks through public education to transform the climate that allows genocide to occur. It also seeks to foster a universal respect for human rights and the dignity of all people and communities. All events are free and open to the public.

The following Darfur Program events are co-sponsored by the Genocide Studies Program, Provost's Office, Honors Program, Department of Government, and Department of History and presented in association with the CNU International Genocide Awareness movement.
