(NEWPORT NEWS, VA) – The inaugural O'Hara Leadership Award in Direct & Interactive Marketing Education was recently presented to CNU professor Dr. Lisa Spiller by the Direct Marketing Association of Washington at a gala dinner held at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C.
This prestigious award recognizes those professors who are distinguishing themselves in the field of direct and interactive marketing. Dr. Spiller's achievements in the field include leading many CNU student teams to win national and regional marketing competitions, co-authoring a leading direct and interactive marketing textbook, and receiving several case competition awards in the field. Dr. Spiller has been teaching direct and interactive marketing for a quarter-century. She has been the driving force behind CNU's stance as a pioneer in direct and interactive marketing education and has prepared and assisted hundreds of CNU graduates to compete successfully in the direct marketing arena.
"Dr. Spiller is a very deserving recipient of the O'Hara Leadership Award. She embodies the very best qualities we seek to build in CNU faculty: a continued dedication to inspiring and successfully preparing her students for a variety of careers. Her students learn to think innovatively and apply their skills to effectively analyze and solve challenging problems for businesses and community-based organizations."
-Dr. David Cleeton, Dean of CNU's Joseph W. Luter, III College of Business & Leadership.

Mike O'Hara started the AB&C Group, a direct response processing company in Northern Virginia in 1972. The company became a powerhouse in the direct marketing industry, serving many of the nation's most prominent catalog and nonprofit organizations and employing more than 600 staff members when O'Hara sold the company in 2006.
