Christopher Newport University and the City of Newport News will conduct a live Emergency Response Test Exercise on campus Wednesday, March 11 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. CNU emergency alert systems and city and state police response units will be utilized. The date of March 11 was chosen to coincide with CNU’s spring break week.
“This is a great opportunity for the university and city police to exercise our response protocols and ensure their effectiveness,” said CNU Chief of Police Jeff Brown.
Community members may notice test-related police activity on campus during the morning hours and may hear the campus-wide siren system activate.
