Christopher Newport University’s Luter College of Business & Leadership to Present Panel Discussion on Economic Integration & Development in Africa and the EU

(Newport News, Va.) CNU’s Luter College of Business & Leadership will present a panel discussion on “The Implications of Economic Integration and Development in Africa and the EU” on Tuesday, April 28, from 4:30 - 6 p.m. in CNU’s David Student Union Ballroom. The discussion is free and open to the public. No reservation is required.

The event will feature William & Mary professor Dr. Berhanu Abegaz and CNU professors Dr. Tina Kempin Reuter and Dr. George K. Zestos. Each panel member will speak for approximately 15 minutes with the remaining time devoted to questions and answers.

Dr. Abegaz is a professor of economics at William & Mary specializing in African economic development. His teaching interests include macroeconomic theory, comparative economics, regional economic integration and development economics. Dr. Abegaz conducts research in a wide range of areas including reform in transition economies, the challenges facing African industrialization, and poverty traps in Ethiopia’s agrarian system.

Dr. Kempin Reuter is a professor of government at CNU. Her teaching interests include comparative and international politics, international law, peace studies, human rights, ethnic conflict and nationalism. In addition, she conducts research in international relations, ethnic conflict, international law and human rights.

Dr. Zestos is a professor of economics at CNU who specializes in international economics and European integration. He teaches quantitative-oriented courses, international trade and finance, and courses in European integration. His research is in applied econometrics and international integration. His most recent work focuses on monetary and fiscal policy and the subprime mortgage crisis.
