(NEWPORT NEWS, VA) – Christopher Newport University's LifeLong Learning Society (LLS) 2009 Summer Program will run May 18 - July 31, featuring 25 unique course offerings designed to keep seniors active, engaged and on top of current trends.
LLS members can choose from three-week courses focused on improving computer skills such as Internet & E-mail and Computing 1 or culinary course offerings like Fun with Herbs and Gardens Large & Small. A Fun Food for Summer class will be taught by CNU's executive chef, Erika Nestler. Fitness remains a focus with classes including Aerobics, Strength & Stretching and Body Fusion. Courses in genealogy, watercolor painting, oil painting, photography and history will also be offered. In addition to classes and lectures, LLS plans optional activities including weekly bridge games, a special guided tour of the historic Chamberlin by historian John Quarstein and a Fourth of July picnic. Full membership for the 2009 summer session is $115.
